About
The new school year starts at the beginning of April. This is the time when cherry blossoms flower and the time of new beginnings in Japan. The relevance this has for me is that, it’s where I’m living.
For my new beginning in April 2009 I decided that becoming healthier would help me improve every aspect of my life. As I get plenty of exercise and sleep, diet is the area where there is most room for improvement.
My first decision was to buy a fruit and vegetable juicer which I now use daily. The aim was simple, to start the day with a solid fruit and vegetable juice. My recollection of medical advice in the U.K. is to consume 5 or more portions of fruit and vegetables a day. So if I can do this at breakfast it’s feasible to push on into double figures throughout the day.
Now for vegetarians, vegans and generally healthy people this may be child’s play but for me this represents a milestone in my quest to eat a more balanced healthy diet.
The alkaline acid diet angle comes from research I did on the internet to find a diet that was right for me. At 6′ 1″ and 65kg I had no interest in a weight loss diet. I was simply looking for an evidence based approach that would validate the percieved wisdom that eating more fruit and vegetables, reducing meat consumption as well as processed, high sugar foods is a good thing.
This blog details my journey to a healthier lifestyle as I move towards following an alkaline acid diet.
